Flambeaux CrossFit

Centrally located on N Causeway off of Metairie Rd, Flambeaux CrossFit is a fun and friendly place to achieve the level of physical fitness you desire. We welcome everyone at any fitness level and from every walk of life into our community.

CrossFit is constantly varied high intensity functional movements. In other words, our programed WODS (workout of the day) will keep you moving to burn extra calories and build lean muscle! We mix it up having our members workout with bodyweight, kettlebells, medicine balls and even work with some gymnastics and olympic lifting for some skill and coordination practice.

Join our Flambeaux CrossFit community and let’s grow strong together! We want everyone to be comfortable so we encourage our members to bring a friend on fridays for only $10!

Remember, you don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great!

BIO

I grew up in a family of martial arts where I practiced and competed when I was younger. In highschool I wasn’t involved in sports but really enjoyed weightlifting in my freetime. After a while I was looking for a challenge I went on to train and finish a few local half marathons. When I achieved that goal I wanted something different so I trained with body builders but I was hungry, literally, they have a crazy diet that’s not for me, I’m a “foodie”. From there I wanted something that allowed me to build muscle through weight lifting but also wanted to keep my endurance up and that’s when I found CrossFit and I’ve been addicted to its benefits ever since.

WHAT HAS CROSSFIT HELPED YOU ACHIEVE?

So much. Aside from the physical aspects my self confidence and happiness has more than tripled! I’ve had so many triumphs through movements I thought id never be able to do and then achieving them after some practice, it truly showed me I can do anything, I’m capable of amazing things as long as I try.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL A NEW MEMBER?

What you see online about CrossFit can be intimidating. What you’re seeing advertised  is the most advanced and intense athletes but everyone starts somewhere! All movements can be modified for you and the advanced movements can be coached to you so you too can be a CrossFit athlete!

Missy King

Credentilas: Bachelor Degree in Kinesiology; Minor degrees in Biology and Coaching.

BIO

I played all sports growing up, however softball was my first love. I played softball from the time I was about 11 into my College Years. I played four years of college softball at William Carey University in Hattiesburg MS. I would consider myself as pretty competitive person. My competitiveness is what got me into CrossFit. That drive and passion I had playing ball was just bottled up inside of me until I discovered CrossFit. CrossFit has allowed me to express myself with the competitiveness and drive that I naturally have and I’m thankful for it.

WHAT HAS CROSSFIT HELPED YOU ACHIEVE?

CrossFit has helped me with strength in more than one aspect. I am Physically stronger than I have even been and I was a college athlete. I am now mentally stronger and feel as if I can handle anything that comes my way. Once you become a CrossFit athlete there in a sense of proudness that come with it. For example, when you first start and you cannot perform a movement, there is no greater feeling of success, confidence and acceptance within yourself when you work hard and get better and stronger and now you do not even think twice about not being able to perform the movement in just a few short weeks.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL A NEW MEMBER?

If you would like a fun and safe place to try some things that you have never tried before that will enhance your life in every aspect, then you are at the right place. This gym is a place for growing, physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.

The Power Snatch is my favorite movement in CrossFit. The snatch proves that technique is more powerful than strength.
